Services    Document Translation

SML builds a translation team for you with an experienced project manager at its core. We maintain a strict workflow to control the quality of our document translation.
Step 1: Confirmation of customer requirements
In dialogue with our customer, we deter- mine the project requirements including preferred CAT tools, delivery timeframe, required formats, etc. The Project Manager confirms the details in written form.
Step 2: Analysis and planning
The Project Manager builds a project team, including translation, editing and proofread- ing groups, and then holds a kick-off meeting in which customer requirements are conveyed to all team members. Respective workloads and schedules are confirmed. Moreover, SML communicates the desired translation style by distributing an "SML Translation Style Guide".
Step 3: Translation, editing, and proofreading
Translation: Translations are completed by a native speaker of the target language who is also a master of the source lang- uage. This ensures that all original texts are correctly understood and accurately expressed.

Editing: The entire translated text is read through and compared with the original to guarantee its accuracy. Grammar, spelling, and translation style errors are corrected.

Proofreading: An industry specialist reviews the translated version as if he were the customer, reading to check the logic and professionalism of the whole text.

Step 4: Project delivery

The Project Manager and the Quality Control team perform a final review by comparing all points on a quality checklist with the project processes to make sure that all customer requirements have been met. Only then is the final document delivered to the customer.
Step 5: Summary and archiving
In a postmortem meeting lead by the Project Manager, all team members provide a summary of the implementation status of the project. It is recorded and archived.
Step 6: Translation memory maintenance
All translation memories and glossaries are updated to correspond with the final, approved translation. All project files and other materials are backed up.
